Kathmandu, Nepal – November 2, 2025
The government faced a setback after the Supreme Court, the country's apex judicial body, issued an interim order on Sunday not to implement the decision to recall several ambassadors.
A bench of Justices comprising Sharanga Subedi and Shrikant Poudel ordered the government to halt the implementation of its decision to recall the envoys.
This order came in response to a writ petition filed in the Supreme Court by advocates Pratibha Upreti and Sunil Bhattarai, challenging the government's recall decision.
A recent meeting of the Council of Ministers had decided to recall Nepali ambassadors serving in various countries. This decision to recall the ambassadors had faced criticism from different sectors.
