Hindu devotees across the nation observe Maghe Sankranti festival by taking holy dip in rivers and feast on yams, ghee and different delicacies.
Tharu community in Nepal used to mark the Maghe Sankranti as the beginning of the New Year. They used to take dip in rivers and receiving blessings from elders. They also used to perfom various cultural program to make special the new year.
